Allow 1 day.

Known primarily for the reputable University of Notre Dame, the South Bend Mishawaka area contains more than just top-of-the-line students and academics; its ever-growing art, food and nature products makes it one of Indiana’s best-kept secrets.

Feel the Beat
Art Beat , held in downtown South Bend in mid-August, explores more than simply music and performance. Art Beat covers the entire spectrum of art. Booths line the street to showcase performing, visual and culinary arts so visitors are free to take in their favorite displays at their own leisure. Performances are presented every half hour and range from ballet pieces to tunes from local musicians. Along the Art Beat strip are some of South Bend’s most acclaimed restaurants ready to serve visitors anything from sandwiches to hors d’oeuvres.

Give In to Your Sweet Tooth
The South Bend Chocolate Company  offers an assortment of tasty treats to fulfill any sweet tooth. The Chocolate Company also houses a variety of other treats: popcorn crunches, cakes, coffees and ice cream creations. The Chocolate Company offers you two great locations: one in the heart of downtown; the other at their manufacturing facility. Here, you can tour the factory and enjoy shopping at their outlet store.
