A League of Their Own

Begin your weekend with a homerun at League Stadium . In 1991, Columbia Pictures refurbished and expanded the stadium for the filming of A League of Their Own. Walk around and see where stars Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Rosie O'Donnell and Madonna filmed this iconic movie. Today the stadium is home to the Southridge Raiders and the Dubois County Bombers. If you’re visiting in the spring, stop in for a game or two to cheer on the Raiders!

Take a timeout for lunch at the nearby Old School Cafe . Their multi-cuisine menu is sure to knock it out of the park.

 

Hinkle Fieldhouse

Continue your celebration of Indiana's favorite sport at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Situated on the beautiful campus of Butler University , the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse is less than a mile’s walk from anywhere on campus. Hinkle Fieldhouse was home to the Hickory Huskers for the Indiana State Basketball finals in Hoosiers. Today the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse is home to the Butler Bulldogs where all men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball games are held every year. Cheer on the the Bulldogs at a home game during your visit, this is something you will not want to miss!

After a Bulldog victory, end your night with dinner at Scotty’s Dawghouse , a local favorite. Located just a short walk across Butler’s campus, Scotty’s is sure to be a win for dinner. Scotty’s serves traditional bar food as well as their own locally brewed beer from Thr3e Wise Men Brewery.

Historic Hoosier Gym

Take a trip back in time to the place that started it all, the Historic Hoosier Gym . Once inside the gym, you’ll be taken back in time as you celebrate Indiana’s favorite sport. In 1985, Knightstown’s gymnasium became the home of the Hickory Huskers in the movie Hoosiers. Relive the magic as you stand in the same spot where Jimmy shot the game winning basket, sit in the stands, and walk through the locker room. Continue reliving your glory days with a meal at Hoosiers Home Court Cafe . This charming cafe features tribute dishes, burgers, fries, homemade pie and more in a friendly, down home atmosphere.

Blue Chips

Next take a visit to Frankfort High School’s  gymnasium to see where Blue Chips was filmed in 1994. NBA stars such as Larry Bird, Dick Vitale and Bob Knight were all featured in the film.
