Indiana’s seven historic and scenic byways have teamed up to create the Indiana Byways Passport. The passport gives you a guide as you explore the byways, collecting unique stamps from the various locations along the route. Officially endorsed as a Legacy Project of the Indiana Bicentennial, there is no better way to see the Hoosier State.

Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway
A route that travels three loops in eastern Indiana, the Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway mirrors the settlement of the Whitewater River Valley beginning on the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg and winding north to Hagerstown. Start your journey at the Little Cedar Grove Baptist Church, the oldest church in Indiana still on its original site. Experience life in a canal town in Metamora, visiting the Duck Creek Aqueduct. Experience life on the water at Whitewater Memorial State Park and Brookville Reservoir. Learn about the importance of the railroad in Eastern Indiana at the Liberty Depot and Museum in Liberty. Visit two historic buildings in Connersville, the Historic Elmhurst House and The Canal House. Close out your journey in Richmond’s Historic Depot District, home to art, shopping and delicious dining.
