Indiana’s seven historic and scenic byways have teamed up to create the Indiana Byways Passport. The passport gives you a guide as you explore the byways, collecting unique stamps from the various locations along the route. Officially endorsed as a Legacy Project of the Indiana Bicentennial, there is no better way to see the Hoosier State.

This trip idea is a sampling of the highlights listed in the passport. You can get your passport at any of the stops listed and collect your stamps at your own pace!

Ohio River Scenic Byway
Following the Ohio River east to west, the  Ohio River Scenic Byway provides a breathtaking glimpse of Southern Indiana, from Lawrenceburg to Madison to New Albany to Evansville. Start your journey at the  Dearborn County Visitors Center in Lawrenceburg. Visit the  Lanier Mansion in Madison, a beautiful home built in 1844. Tour  Culbertson Mansion in New Albany, the home of William Culbertson, who was once Indiana’s wealthiest man. Take in one of the state’s prettiest views while enjoying a great meal at the  The Overlook Restaurant in Leavenworth. Explore the area where Abraham Lincoln spent his childhood at  Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum. Learn about the first northern town captured by Confederate forces in the Civil War at the  Historic Newburgh Visitors Center.
