About this trip idea

Did you think skiing wasn’t a viable option in Indiana? Just ask Indiana’s own Nick Goepper! This accomplished freeskier has won two gold medals and a silver at the Winter X Games, as well as a bronze medal at the Olympic games. The Lawrenceburg native got his start at Perfect North Slopes, right in his hometown. Whether you’re a beginner or an accomplished skier, you can have the perfect winter getaway at Perfect North Slopes.

Perfect North Slopes has numerous trails designed for all levels of skiers, from beginners to experts. They generally start creating snow the first of December, drawing water from their own lake. Snow grooming is a high priority all winter so that the powdery stuff is in great shape for skiers. Perfect North Slopes rents equipment and provides lessons, and hours go well into the night. You can also try snow tubing! No experience or equipment required. Just grab a snow tube to whoosh down the 1200’ run. Then ride the Magic Carpet conveyor back up for another run. If you prefer snowboarding, that’s also an option. There are even terrain parks if you’re into doing tricks.

You have a lot of lodging options in the Lawrenceburg area, and most all have ski packages available. That way you can hit the slopes early, ski until close, and then get a good night’s sleep close by before you do it all again the next day.

Try Your Luck at the Casino

Lawrenceburg’s Hollywood Casino features state-of-the-art gaming, with all of your favorite electronic and live games on-site. There are 2,800 slots, 80 table games and even 19 poker tables. They also have live entertainment as well as a steakhouse and buffet. You can also keep your energy going from your day on the slopes in the Boogie Nights dance club, featuring those great 70s and 80s tunes.

Take Time for Tasting

Continue your grownup getaway with a visit to Great Crescent Brewery in nearby Aurora. Arrange for a tour of the brewery and then stick around to sample their handcrafted selections in the taproom. This is a great place for a meal, too, as their ever-changing menu features locally sourced ingredients. Located on a sweeping curve of the Ohio River in a historic building originally constructed in 1843, Great Crescent Brewery has earned the distinction of being an Indiana Artisan destination.

After this getaway, you’ll be energized and ready to get back to your routine, with memories of an exciting place you’ll want to visit again.
