The History Museum is the site of the 38-room Oliver Mansion that was once home to the J.D. Oliver family. All furnishings in the house are original to the home, providing a wonderful glimpse of how the family lived. Stroll through two acres of lush gardens that surround the mansion and explore the Worker’s Home, a charming cottage reflecting life in the 1930s. See compelling exhibits in The History Museum’s galleries, including one that focuses on Notre Dame history. Learn about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, whose story was immortalized in the film, A League of Their Own. Wedding traditions extending across cultures and throughout time are shared in this vibrant exhibit at The History Museum. Through engaging vignettes that feature photographs, gowns, jewelry, and more, Unveiled: Wedding Traditions showcases the museum’s Historic Clothing Collection as well as items on loan from the community’s diverse populations. The history and heritage of these unions provide an interesting glimpse of these traditions. The exhibit is on view March 26, 2022 - January 8, 2023.
