One of only two archabbeys in the U.S.
Saint Meinrad Archabbey is a peaceful, spiritual place, located in the rolling hills of southern Indiana. Home to more than 80 Benedictine monks, the archabbey was founded in 1854. It's one of only two archabbeys in the United States and one of 11 in the world.
One of the monks' primary works is educating future leaders of the Catholic Church through their Seminary and School of Theology.
Guided tours of the Archabbey are available on Saturdays at 1:30 pm Central time. Self-guided walking tours are available anytime. Group tours can be arranged with advance noticed.
