Train Rides, Railroad Museum, & Guest Engineer Programs
Are you ready to take a journey back to a bygone era? Then visit the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in northwest Indiana. Situated near the former junction of the Erie, PRR, C&O and NYC in historic North Judson, HVRM offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the sights, sounds and smells of railroading during its heydays.
Museum admission is free. Walk the grounds with numerous buildings, interpretive displays, vintage rolling stock and one of the largest collections of working railroad signals.
For a nominal fee, take a train ride through the countryside to the Grand Kankakee Marsh area. Diesel engines pull open-air cars, a vintage coach and cabooses for the excursions. Special events offer unique experiences. School and tour groups are welcome for weekday excursions with prior arrangements.
Our Guest Engineer Program allows you to operate a diesel switch engine with a supervising engineer. Pull the throttle, ring the bell and blow the horn. Participants must be 18 or older, hold a valid driver's license and meet the physical requirements. Advance reservations are required.
HVRM is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and education of railroad history.
