An Outdoor Adventure - Richmond/Wayne County
Beautiful Thistlethwaite Falls is a fun place to cool off on a hot day. While you are there, search for ancient fossils among the rock formations. Long before dinosaurs existed, Indiana was covered by a shallow sea flourishing with life. Ancient fossils of snails, corals, trilobites, bivalves, brachiopods, and others can be found near the falls. On Middlefork Reservoir, glide through the water in your rented canoe, rowboat, or paddleboat, or spend the day fishing off the docks. Hit the trails (hiking & mountain biking) at Hayes Arboretum. Birding, hiking, and guided night hikes are favorite activities at Cope Environmental Center. Enjoy a bike ride on Indiana's longest paved trail system spanning 62 miles from Richmond to Marion. No bike, no problem. Cycling and Fitness Warehouse offers FREE bike rental. Ready for some adrenaline-pumping paintball? The Predator Zone has a speedball field and 16 acres of woodsball fields waiting for you. If disc golf is your sport, let it fly at one of Richmond's 2 challenging courses. Skateboarding, pickleball, golf courses, rose garden, splash pads, orchards, flower farms are other adventures ready to be discovered.
