As a leader in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, Challenger Learning Center of NWI and its international network of Challenger Learning Centers use space-themed simulated learning environments to engage students in dynamic, hands-on opportunities. These experiences strengthen knowledge in STEM subjects and inspire students to pursue careers in these important fields. While seeing classroom lessons brought to life, students cultivate important 21st century skills like problem solving, critical thinking, communication and teamwork. Each student plays a unique role in their mission as the team completes assignments, manipulates hands-on labs and copes with simulated emergencies. Teamwork is crucial. This differentiated approach allows for a truly personalized learning experience where students apply critical scientific knowledge to real-world scenarios. Our goal is to make STEM and space accessible to everyone, and show that anyone can be a scientist no matter what. Along with simulated missions, Challenger NWI conducts group tours, public events, and summer/school year day camps.
