The Midwest Rail Rangers provide on-board educational programs for passengers aboard select departures of the South Shore Line, a 90-mile-long train route between Downtown Chicago and South Bend International Airport. Come out and ride with us to learn about the historic steel-making region of Northwest Indiana, the Indiana Dunes State and National Parks, and the "bread basket" region of La Porte and St. Joseph Counties. Programs are provided two to three weekends per month, year-round... and are free for all passengers who hold a valid South Shore Line ticket. Upcoming program dates are listed on our website when determined. Our programs are presented in partnership with the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) and Indiana Dunes State Park. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has also written a 100-page route guidebook for the South Shore Line for passengers who take the train when no guides are riding. For more information, check out
