The APRHF Rail Rangers provide onboard educational programs to passengers on the South Shore Line, a 90-mile-long train route between Chicago, Gary, Dune Park, Michigan City, and South Bend. Come out and learn about the people, places, and history passing by outside your window! Onboard educational programs take place two to three weekends per month year-round and are provided free of charge (with a valid South Shore train ticket). For a list of upcoming dates, please check out our website. We also have route guide books, e-books, and podcasts of the route available for sale if you travel when guides are not on the train, but still want to hear our narration. This service is provided by the 501(c)(3) non-profit American Passenger Rail Heritage Foundation, in cooperation with the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD).
