About Johnson County Museum of History

A family friendly museum that features local history and art exhibits, hands-on activities appropriate for all ages, and the Johnson County Local History and Genealogy Library. This 30,000 square foot museum is housed in the 1923 Masonic Temple that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum hosts numerous events each year including a Heritage Day Festival that takes place the first Saturday in October and the popular Visit with Santa events the first two Saturdays in December.
