Embark on an Epic Art Adventure

You’ll be captivated at every turn as you discover the amazing public art along the Heritage Trail. As the Quilt Gardens celebrates its 10th anniversary with 19 quilt-themed flower gardens and 22 hand painted quilt-themed murals, they will be joined by 56 stunningly realistic Seward Johnson (pictured at right with his sculpture Forever Marilyn) life-size bronze sculptures and a 25-foot tall, 27,000-pound monumental sculpture gracing the gardens and downtowns. From May 30 – October 1, this Free one-of-a-kind public art exhibit will beckon one and all to stop and enjoy the welcoming communities along the Heritage Trail.

Ox Bow County Park is right off the MapleHeart Trail with woods and prairie nestling together, all viewable from its observation tower and Bonneyville Mill County Park near Bristol lies astride the Quaker Trace trail. Love the water? There’s more than one way to enjoy the Heritage Trail’s scenic beauty from the St. Joseph and Elkhart rivers as well as other lakes and smaller streams with public access sites. Launch your kayak or canoe or try casting a line into the Little Elkhart River near Middlebury for some trout fishing. Whether you’re trying something new or a seasoned pro, you’ll have lots to keep you active along the Heritage Trail.
