Situated just 20 minutes from South Bend, Potato Creek is one of the most-visited parks in the state and covers nearly 4,000 acres. Worster Lake is the park’s centerpiece and there might not be a better way to check out foliage than by hopping in a canoe or kayak. You can also hike or bike miles of trails with varying degrees of difficulty.
Potato Creek State Park has 7.7 miles of mountain bike trail, known as a great stretch for beginners. There aren’t a lot of obstacles, but the trails do offer plenty of nature scenery. More experienced riders will find the track built for speed.
Over 10 miles of trail are a centerpiece to Potato Creek State Park. Some roll through old farm fields and include an observation deck overlooking wetlands. Others are more rugged, making their way through wood and along Worster Lake. Either way, it’s some of the best hiking in Northern Indiana.
