Harvest time and Hancock County go hand in hand with its fall festivities and agritourism options. You don't have to go far to find "agri-fun" on the farm or some awesome autumn activities because it's just east of Indianapolis.
As the home of the Hoosier Poet, James Whitcomb Riley, Greenfield celebrates this Indiana icon with one of the largest festivals in the state. The Riley Festival is a four-day October celebration of live entertainment, food, parades, competitions and over 450 vendor booths. However, this year is extra special as the Riley Festival turns 50!
Partake in the harvest at Tuttle's Orchard. It is the best place to get U-pick apples and other homegrown produce. This functioning farm shines in the fall as it hosts tractor town, a corn maze and 20 acres of pumpkins, plus the café has some of the yummiest apple cider slushies.
Lark Ranch is another fall fun destination boasting activities and rides with a farming twist. The giant haystack, corn box and slide mountain are all designed to engage active youngsters. However, the highlight is the Lark train, which takes families around on a one-mile ride around the pumpkin patch.
Whatever you choose to do, Hancock County has your harvest fun covered!
