This fund-raiser for the Richmond Rose Garden celebrates the first rose blooms of the season. During the evening, food and drink by local caterers are located throughout the garden. For an admission fee of $25, people can enjoy the food, visit with friends and smell the beautiful roses. This thirty-year-old garden has over 100 varieties and about 1500 rose bushes all cared for by volunteers. The garden is totally self supported and all money raised goes to maintain the garden. At dark, all are welcome for free to see five hot air balloons glow with one being a special shape. That is how the name came about, first blooms of the roses and hot air balloons glowing. It is an event that is enjoyed by all, even those who just come to see the balloons.
It is well worth the trip to Richmond anytime to see this beautiful rose garden.
