About Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb

The World's largest antique vehicle competition event, second-largest motorsports event in Indiana. Now in its 53rd consecutive year under the sponsorship of the Newport Lions Club, the festival re-creates the original Newport Hill Climbs of 1909-1915, a proving ground for early auto makers, including the Chevrolet Brothers. Now featuring 31 classes of timed competition runs over the 1800-foot-long, 140-foot-high Newport Hill Sunday, plus practice runs all day Saturday. More than 300 cars, trucks and motorcycles from the pre-World War II era are expected. Saturday and Sunday also offer more than 400 vehicles in the Street Rod and Antique Car Show; Saturday features a Collector Car Auction and gigantic parade at 5 p.m., along with a Big Wheel Race for kids, Pretty Baby Contest, Dancing with the Cars Cruise-in and Street Dance and capped with a huge fireworks show. A three-day swap meet and flea market, Friday gospel concert and a variety of food professionals and non-profit food stands, and a variety of Hill Climb Souvenirs adds to weekend festivities. Following the competition runs will be a huge prize drawing including the Lions Club's restored Antique Vehicle Raffle.
