Spirited: Prohibition in America January 26 – March 17, 2019 The History Museum A new day dawned on January 17, 1920, when the 18th Amendment to the Constitution took effect. For the next 13 years—until the amendment was repealed in 1933—Americans could no longer manufacture, sell, or transport liquors. Spirited: Prohibition in America is an exhibit that explores those tumultuous years and shows how Prohibition proved to be much more than one roaring era in history.
