About Dance of Hope

Dance of Hope is a production of the Heartbeat Children Foundation, a social initiative that explores the transforming power of music and dance to raise awareness and improve the way of life for children in Uganda who are orphaned, displaced, or living in poverty. Through artistic expressions, these young people (ages 7-17) showcase their full talent to audiences around the world, and 2017 marks their debut North American tour. An engaging and captivating performance of African traditional performing arts, Dance of Hope celebrates original songs and traditional dances brought to life in gorgeous harmonies, colorful costumes, exhilarating rhythms, and the rich sounds of traditional instruments including kalimba, endongo, kora, and adungu. Dance of Hope leads audiences on a powerful journey across the African continent, with a cast of children whose creativity, persistence, and love can inspire us all. Since 2012, Dance of Hope’s Artistic Director, Herbert Kinobe, has served as the World Ambassador for the Harmony Foundation. In this role, he has focused on supporting the Harmony Foundation’s important work on environmental protection and social development and improving the lives of children and their families around the world.
