White Christmas

About White Christmas

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater is proud to present a screening of the classic film, White Christmas on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at buskirkchumley.org, at 812-323-3020, or at the BCT Box Office and Downtown Visitors Center at 114 E. Kirkwood Ave. Having left the Army following W.W.II, Bob Wallace (Bing Crosby) and Phil Davis (Danny Kaye) team up to become a top song-and-dance act. Davis plays matchmaker and introduces Wallace to Betty (Rosemary Clooney) and Judy Haynes (Vera-Ellen) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, as the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General. All of the songs in this film were written by Irving Berlin, including holiday classics such as “White Christmas,” which won an Oscar for best original song, and “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep,” which was also an Oscar nominee. As with all film screenings at the BCT, costumes are encouraged!
