About Bloomington Blues & Boogie Woogie Piano Festival

The Bloomington Blues & Boogie Woogie Piano Festival is an annual music and dance festival featuring acclaimed blues and boogie woogie pianists, professional dancers, food and beverages. The first festival featured Bob Seeley, Marcia Ball, Carl Sonny Leyland, Bruce Sunpie Barnes, Liz Pennock and Dr. Blues, and Craig Brenner, with rhythm section and professional swing dancers. Featured artists in 2016 include Bob Seeley, Cynthia Girtley, Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Mr. B - aka Mark Braun, Bill Sims, Jr., Ricky Nye, Alfred "Uganda" Roberts, Liz Pennock & Dr. Blues, Craig Brenner, and others to be announced. Activities begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14, with free music outside the Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center. The festival includes two ticketed concerts - at 2 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 14 - inside the Ivy Tech Waldron Auditorium; more free music outside at 4 p.m.; and additional informal performances beginning at 8 p.m. with no cover charge at Bloomington Boogies After Hours at Malibu Grill on the Square and GRAZIE! Italiano on the Square. The festival concludes with a free concert at Templeton Elementary on Monday, Aug. 15, for students, faculty, staff and families, followed by a free piano workshop for young piano students.
