Hoosiers by Choice

James Naismith said, "While the game was invented in Massachusetts, basketball really had its origin in Indiana, which remains the center of the sport." You could say the game chose Indiana as its home. Just like Indiana's favorite game, we're featuring the stories of Hoosier hoops heroes who weren't born in Indiana but ended up calling it home. These coaches, players, media and more are Hoosiers by Choice!

From a Basketball Hall of Fame member to an NBA Champion to one of Butler's all-time greats, these Indiana hoops heroes have decades of basketball experience and have played at the highest levels of the sport. The Hoosiers by Choice campaign lets non-native Indiana residents share stories about why they chose to move to and stay in Indiana. The campaign will run throughout 2021, showcasing what makes Indiana a great place to live and why people from outside the state are now “Hoosiers by Choice.” Learn more about the campaign here.
