This Downtown Indianapolis Hotel Suggests Guests Take a “Work-cation”

By Amy Lynch on November 24, 2020

Sometimes you just need a change of scenery, especially after being cooped up for months during the COVID-19 pandemic. Perhaps a “work-cation” is exactly what you need…

The Alexander Hotel in downtown Indianapolis’s mixed-use CityWay development offers just the ticket. Recently ranked among the Midwest’s Top 20 Hotels in Conde Nast Traveler’s 33rdannual Readers’ Choice Awards, this contemporary property has created a “Peace and Productivity” package aimed at folks who are tired of being stuck at home.

How many of us have had trouble getting work done these past few months with kids, pets, and household chores all vying for attention in the background? The Alexander removes distractions from the equation, allowing guests to focus exclusively on professional tasks at hand.

This work-from-hotel package offers early check-in and late check-out the next morning to allow for maximum uninterrupted time in a deluxe guest room, along with complimentary WiFi and a $20 in-room dining credit.

You’ll need to come up for air at some point. Fortunately, the property’s convenient location on the southeast quadrant of downtown Indy provides proximity to the historic Fletcher Place neighborhood and the Fountain Square Cultural District on foot or by IndyGo Red Line service. Other restaurants and attractions throughout downtown are easily accessible as well. Those who don’t feel the need to venture out can always order room service or just head down to the ground floor for fresh coastal Italian cuisine at Nesso.

On-site, The Alexander’s many art-filled nooks and crannies (curated by the Indianapolis Museum of Art) propose plenty of room to spread out and unwind, from the airy lobby space highlighted by the innovative Paul Villinski “Anthem” installation of vinyl record albums transformed into flying birds.

Gorgeous glass pendant lanterns by artist Jorge Pardo greet guests over the main staircase on the way to the reception desk and throughout the Plat 99 coffee/cocktail bar, with more art to be found on the building exterior, in the adjacent parking garage, and in additional seating areas on the 2nd floor that look out from sunny South Street-facing windows.

Visitors can rest assured that The Alexander is taking appropriate COVID-19 precautions such as requiring all guests to wear masks in common areas, rearranging to allow for social distancing, adding new cleaning measures, and installing hand sanitizing stations across the property.
