This year more so than any other holiday season, we all need to support our locally owned small businesses. With that in mind, the staff at Visit Hendricks County scoured our communities searching for unique holiday gifts you just can’t find anywhere else. What we discovered were some amazing finds for every member of the family in our locally owned stores.
Here’s a sampling. You can see our entire list, sign up for a $200 Gift Card Giveaway, find things to do this holiday season and learn about some of our best attractions, just west of Indy in Hendricks County by clicking the link below.
We try to find unique and original creations each year when selecting our finalists for our popular gift guide. This discovery from Norelu in Lizton really hit the mark.
These eye-catching wall hangers would dress up any home and because each one is hand-painted using a pouring technique, no two are alike.
Where: Norelu, 103 W. Main St., Lizton, Indiana
Cost: $23
We have an amazing co-op art gallery on the square in Danville that features some of the best work from award-winning Indiana artisans. So, Gallery on the Square has naturally become a staple of our Holiday Gift Guide through the years.
We love how this local artist chose a character that perfectly fits every piece of wood.
Where: Gallery on the Square, 51 S. Washington St., Danville, Indiana
Cost: $8 and up
A new candy shop opened this summer in Avon and has quickly become a local favorite especially for their fudge. We feel candy making is an art and this store consistently delivers.
Their fun grab and go holiday-themed fudge creations would be a great gift for anyone or why not buy one for yourself.
We won’t tell.
Where: The Fudge Kettle, 5530 E. U.S. Hwy. 36, Suite 250, Avon, Indiana
Cost: $4.50-$16.50
We found two completely different advent calendars that we loved. Paw Street Bakery, a fun store that caters to dogs had a pooch-themed calendar complete with a dog treat for each day.
MRC Wood Products, which always provides great gift ideas, created an exclusive Reindeer Christmas Countdown calendar this year that we loved. We learned after finalizing our gift guide list that they also have a hilarious 2020 Dumpster Fire tree ornament that we think everyone needs.
Where: Paw Street Bakery, 120 E. Main St., Plainfield, Indiana and MRC Wood Products, 8945 Motorsports Way, Brownsburg, Indiana
Cost: $46-$50
The final gift I will highlight in this post (keep in mind this is merely a quarter of our entire gift guide) can be found at Schakolad Chocolate Factory in The Shops of Perry Crossing mall. We think this gift in particular could be all the rage this year.
What looks like an ordinary hollow, holiday-themed chocolate figurine blooms into an amazing cup of hot chocolate once you add some hot water or milk.
Where: Schakolad Chocolate Factory, 351 Marketplace Mile, Unit 160, Plainfield, Indiana
Cost: $5-$10
