  • Four Fun Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Weekend

Four Fun Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Weekend

By Ken Kosky on January 17, 2018
Back

Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner and dancing with your Valentine or for Valentine’s fun for the whole family, you’ll have to check out these four fun ways to celebrate just south of Indy.

A wildly-popular event for couples is the Valentine’s Dinner & Dancing event on Feb. 10 at The Sycamore at Mallow Run Winery in Bargersville.

Dinner and dancing at The Sycamore.

The doors open and appetizers are served at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and wine at 7 p.m. and dancing until 10:30 p.m. Entertainment during dinner is provided by The Castlewood Singers. The after-dinner dancing will be with the big band sounds of Cool City Band. The menu includes a salad paired with a dry white, followed by smoked pork (or a vegetarian entrée reserved in advance) served with a dry red blend, capped off with bread pudding served with a blackberry winter dessert wine. Tickets, available on the website, are $75 per person for this 21 and older event.

If you’ve never experienced a movie at the Artcraft, it’s time to see what you’ve been missing.

For a fun Valentine’s experience with a touch of nostalgia, head to The Historic Artcraft Theatre in Franklin to watch the 1961 romantic comedy/drama Breakfast at Tiffany’s at 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 10. Tickets are only $5.25. Be sure to treat yourself to their popcorn, which is locally grown just for them, with freshness you can taste.

Another fun event is the Valentine’s Dance from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 9 at the Greenwood Community Center in Greenwood. This parent/child event offers a chance to dance and celebrate. The cost is $5 for an adult and one child, and additional guests are $1. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Register online.

Finally, the Johnson County Museum is hosting a Valentine’s Workshop open to guests of all ages from noon to 3 p.m. on Feb. 10. Visitors will learn the history of the valentine, see a display of historic valentines from the museum’s collection and have the opportunity to make their own. Admission to the museum and participation in the workshop are free. Refreshments and cookies will be served.
