You Have to Take This Fruitful Trip to So. IN

By Carrie Lambert on August 9, 2017
Back

I am no stranger to Eastern Southern Indiana or SoIN as they’ve started to refer to the area. I visited Clarksville and Starlight recently and was reminded why my family loves our “fruitful” trips to this beautiful area of the state.

First, we visited Derby Dinner Playhouse, before spending the rest of our time at Huber Winery and Orchard.

Think of a theater in the round that serves dinner and performs high level shows. That is what you get with Derby Dinner. You can’t take pictures during the show (bummer), but I did take a shot of our delicious food prior to.

We have seen Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan and now the Music Man. None have disappointed, and I’m always in awe at the talent on stage.

After a good night’s sleep, we headed over to Huber Winery and Orchard. A few years ago we picked peaches and my daughter has asked to go back. I’m not aware of any other place in Indiana to pick peaches, so back to Huber’s we went.

We hit the timing perfectly. The peaches practically jumped into our basket. We even stopped by the blackberry bushes on our way back in.

While this could have made the stop worth it itself, we also visited the other parts of Huber. They have a great ice cream and cheese shop.

The Farmers Market is a great place to shop for produce.

And I can’t forget their beautiful winery housed in an old barn!

On our way out, my daughter asked to go to the playground area. At first I was a little shocked at the admission cost ($5/person), but after we were inside I realized it was well worth it. Playgrounds, mazes, slides and more.

With the fruits of our labor I made a fresh peach pie. I heard their apples are a hit too, so who knows I may have to head back to Huber this fall.
