And on the 3rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me…12 free days in Downtown Indianapolis! Come downtown and save some money this holiday season by taking advantage of the following deals {courtesy of Indianapolis Downtown, Inc.}:

  1. December 13th – FREE admission to the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library. Be inspired by the great work of Vonnegut. Explore artwork and personal items, or enjoy a book from the library shelves. All guests will also receive a FREE bumper sticker. The library will be open noon - 6 p.m.
  2. December 14th – FREE ice skating at Pan Am Pavilion. Skate for FREE in the same arena where the Indiana Ice play! Note: Cost of renting skates is extra. The pavilion will be open from noon - 8 p.m.
  3. December 15th – FREE elevator ride to the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Monument Circle. Experience breathtaking views of the city from the observatory at the top of the Monument. Don’t forget to visit the Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum in the basement of the Monument. The elevator will be open from 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

  4. December 16th – FREE admission to the Indiana State Museum. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the season at Celebration Crossing and celebrate the holidays with Santa and Mrs. Claus in their cozy home on level three of the museum. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  5. December 17th – FREE admission to the James Whitcomb Riley Museum. Explore this National Historic Landmark in Indianapolis’ historic Lockerbie neighborhood and step back to the beginning of the 20th century—just as the great Hoosier poet James Whitcomb Riley experienced it for 23 years of his fascinating life. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  6. December 18th – FREE admission to the Morris Butler House. Another Indiana Landmark—The Morris Butler House showcases the rich elegance of the Victorian era. Experience the house through tours, events and exhibits that highlight architecture, decorative arts and family life in the nineteenth century. The house will be open from noon - 3 p.m.
  7. December 19th – FREE admission to the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Winter Solstice. Admire the 1900s and 1910s inspired holiday décor and grab some ideas for your home at the IMA’s Winter Solstice. Warm up in the Lilly House with historic holiday decorations and music, then finish up your shopping at the Greenhouse and Museum. The museum will be open from 5 - 8:30 p.m.

  8. December 20th – FREE admission to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Face Museum. Check out the impressive display of 75 vehicles, including The Marmon "Wasp," which won the inaugural Indy 500 in 1911 and an exhibit honoring Parnelli Jones, 1963 Indy 500 winner. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  9. December 21st – FREE admission to the Indiana History Center. Enjoy a family day out exploring the latest exhibitions at the Indiana History Center – especially Destination Indiana and You Are There. The center will be open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
  10. December 22nd – FREE admission to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. Admire the Victorian holiday adornment at this authentically restored 1875 Italianate home of President Benjamin Harrison. The house will be open from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.
  11. December 23rd – FREE admission to National Institute for Fitness and Sport. Put in a little time on a treadmill or in a group fitness class and enjoy those holiday treats without the guilt. Children ages 11-17 must be accompanied by an adult. A nursery is available for children under age 11 (see hours on website). NIFS will be open from 5:15 a.m - 10 p.m. 
  12. December 24th – FREE admission to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Celebrate the holidays with your family at the Jolly Days Winter Wonderland and experience the giant Yule Slide. Or take part in a number of seasonal favorites including skating in socks on an indoor “pond,” climbing and sliding on the Snow Castle, “ice” fishing and pretend-baking holiday goodies in the Tradition Kitchen. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
