Harvard professor, author, and host to several PBS programs, Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. is coming to Kokomo on Friday, January 25, 2013 to share his presentation of Finding Your Roots. This event will kick-off a year-long celebration commemorating Ivy Tech Community College’s 50th Anniversary.
Henry Louis Gates, Jr., is the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and the Director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University. He is an expert in exploring the past and has helped many celebrities discover their genealogy during the popular PBS series Finding Your Roots. At the core of his exploration of the past through his work with PBS, Dr. Gates examines race, culture, and identity through genealogy and history to unveil who we are and where we come from. His presentation at the kick-off event will captivate and inspire those who attend to find their roots. The public is invited to be a part of this extraordinary celebration.
