2012 must be a good year for Indiana sports teams. The Indiana Fever won their first WNBA title this summer, the IU Hoosiers Men’s Basketball Team is ranked #1, the Colts are off to an unexpectedly good start to their season and Notre Dame will be playing for a BCS National Championship (their first since their undefeated 1988 season with Lou Holtz at the helm).
This weekend, we’ll find out whether the Fighting Irish will face #2 Alabama or #3 Georgia after the two teams play in Atlanta’s SEC Championship game.
Our friends at Visit South Bend sent us a link to a great article written about Notre Dame’s season and their upcoming BCS National Championship Game appearance:
The people of South Bend love their Fighting Irish. The Notre Dame Athletic Program, specifically the football team, is the face of the community. They are proud of their history.
There is not, however, a sense of entitlement.
Following a championship dry spell where the Irish have not won a national title in nearly a quarter of a century, South Bend is soaking up and celebrating every last win of the 2012 football season.
