Catch the Action: Fort Wayne’s Winter Sports Scene

When it comes to winter sports scene — Northeast Indiana does not disappoint. Fort Wayne, Indiana is home to the Mad Ants, a NBA D-League basketball team and the Komets, an ECHL hockey team. Fans here are die-hard and a live game by either team — or both — should make an appearance on your itinerary during your next visit to the area!

Both the Mad Ants and the Komets play at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, a state of the art multi-purpose facility located on the city’s northside.

The Mad Ants kicked off their 2012-2013 season on Friday, November 23 with a home gain against the Erie BayHawks. The Mad Ants are the official minor league of the NBA for the Charlotte Bobcats, the Indianapolis Pacers, the Detroit Pistons and the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 2012-2013 season for the Komets is already underway with regular-season games scheduled through March. Not only are Mad Ants and Komets games a great source of family-friendly entertainment, but games are also budget-friendly with a variety of ticket prices available — many of which are a fraction of the price for a ticket on the professional circuit — but with just as much entertainment and action!

Find out more about the Mad Ants online here. Or visit the Komets here. And of course, no trip is complete without checking out other seasonal activities, accommodations and events in the area by visiting the Visit Fort Wayne website. Staff here can assist you with all of your trip-planning needs.
