Girls' Trip to Richmond (#video)

By Visit Indiana on September 20, 2012
Back

I spend a lot of time traveling around Indiana, and it almost always includes my two little boys (3 years old and 9 months). Needless to say, I often have my hands full when we’re on the road. So I almost can’t put into words how relaxing my girl’s getaway in Richmond was this weekend.

Richmond, located in the far eastern portion of the state right along I-70, might not come to mind when brainstorming locations for a girls’ trip. But I can now personally attest to the fact that it is truly ideal for just this purpose. Located less than an hour from Indianapolis, and just a few hours from elsewhere in the state, you won’t spend a lot of your precious weekend traveling to and from. And once you’re there, you’ll find it offers something for everyone, from foodies to antique lovers to hard core shoppers to history buffs. Here’s a little video summing up the experience:

I have tons of recommendations on things to see, do, eat and where to sleep around the area just from my quick trip there. I’ll share those here at the Indiana Insider throughout the next few months.

But everything you really need to know to book your trip you can find at Visit Richmond’s Just Us Girls getaway page. There’s a package for just about every size of group, and depending on your interests, you can score tons of good deals, freebies and coupons. Every lady who books a trip at one of the participating hotels will receive a packet that includes $75 in valuable coupons, including a $25 gift certificate to the Warm Glow Candle Outlet. (And this is a must-see shop!)

Gals, fall is a perfect time to get away. The kids are back in school, the weather is cooling off, and quite simply, you’ve earned it. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is just around the corner, and it’s time to rejuvenate and relax before schedules get crazy and winter hibernation sets in. There are many places around the state that make a lovely spot for just this type of trip. I hope you’ll consider Richmond in your plans!

Thanks to Richmond/Wayne County Convention & Tourism Bureau for hosting me last weekend.
