Crooked Stick Golf Course in Carmel, Indiana has hosted its share of world class golf events, like the PGA Championship and the Solheim Cup. Now it can add the 2012 BMW Championship to the list. From September 3-9, the course will welcome an expected 120,000 spectators to watch the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose.
It’s not too late to get tickets to this prestigious event. If you know young golf fans 16 and under, they can attend for free with a paying adult. (Active or retired military members can also get in free with an I.D.)
The official competition kicks off on Thursday, September 6, but there is fun to be had all week, including a celebrity shoot-out on Monday, September 3. I attended U.S. Senior Open at Crooked Stick in 2009, and I found the practice sessions are sometimes more fun than actual tournament play. The players are more relaxed and engage with the crowd much more than they do during competition. A full schedule is available here.
It’s also a great chance to wander this Pete Dye-designed course, which is normally only available to members.
