The Middle East comes to the Midwest for the 17th year in a row, with the 17th Annual Middle Eastern Festival of Indianapolis on July 20, 21, and 22 at St. George Orthodox Christian Church (4020 N. Sherman Drive; Indianapolis, Indiana 46226).
You can experience Middle Eastern culture, cuisine, entertainment, and arts and crafts at the church. Food selections include lamb shanks, gyros, stuffed grape leaves, falafel, meat pies, spinach pies, hummus, and a wide selection of pastries.
You can also enjoy a live Middle Eastern band and dances all weekend long, as well as visit the (air conditioned!) indoor shopping market that features Middle Eastern jewelry, art, crafts, groceries, and desserts. There will also be a silent auction with items donated by local and area merchants.
Tickets are $5 for adults, and children 12 and under are free.
Middle Eastern Festival hours are as follows: Friday: 4:00 to 11:00 pm Saturday: 4:00 to 11:00 pm Sunday: 12:00 to 4:00 pm
If you have ever wanted to experience Middle Eastern life and culture, and to get a real idea of what life is like half a world away, visit the Middle Eastern Festival this July.
