Camping season is in full swing, but I’m just getting around to making our first campsite reservations (having a new baby in the house has slowed me down on the camping front, that’s for sure!) So this week, as I made our reservations for a weekend at Clifty Falls State Park, I was thrilled to see that there are now photos of each campsite on the system.
If you’ve never camped before, perhaps this will give you the confidence to try it out! In the summer, I look for shade (at least partial, preferably in the hot afternoons). I also like sites that are somewhat close to the restrooms, but not right next door. Proximity to a water source is nice, too, especially if you anticipate doing a lot of dishes throughout your trip. If you have a camper or trailer, you’ll want to make sure that the parking pad is the proper length. Fortunately, all of this is provided in the system.
Indiana’s state parks have some wonderful campgrounds that are a great way to make family fun more affordable this summer and fall. I hope you’ll join me in making some memories under the starry skies! To start your journey, visit the online campground reservation system here.
