My favorite piece of art that I own is a little carving I bought for about $10 on an Indianapolis side street. Sounds pretty classy huh? But this piece has now made three moves with my family, I look at it every morning while I eat breakfast and it always makes me smile. And it’s also why I highly recommend the Talbot Street Art Fair to both art lovers and art novices alike.
This FREE art fair is scheduled for June 9 and 10 in downtown Indianapolis. It runs from 16th Street north to 20th Street, and from Pennsylvania east to Delaware (Talbot Street runs between, hence the name). It features approximately 270 artists, so there’s plenty to see.
I love that this event is free–I think it’s what made me more apt to purchase art each time I’ve been. There’s also a lot of variety at this show. Everything from jewelry to paintings to photography to sculptures. And you’ll likely find something no matter what your price point is, too.
Parking can be a bit challenging since this event attracts so many. There are a few pay lots for $5 around the fair as well as free street parking if you don’t mind walking a bit. Better yet, ride your bike and park for free in front of Herron High School.
Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 10.
