Yogi’s Grill & Bar in Bloomington

Last weekend, we took advantage of the Good Friday holiday and spent a wonderful spring day in Bloomington, Indiana. It’s long been one of my favorite day trip destinations in the state, and it certainly didn’t disappoint on this particular visit. I’ll be sharing some of the fun we had that day over the next few weeks here at the Indiana Insider.

Now that our trips include two young kids, we like to seek out family-friendly restaurants that still have a unique, local vibe. In Bloomington, where Indiana University reigns supreme, that vibe is college town. Fortunately there are some great restaurants that have that signature Bloomington feel, but where children are also welcome. Yogi’s Grill & Bar is just such a place, and we had a delicious lunch there.

I like to sit on the patio whenever I eat at Yogi’s. The windows are closed or open depending on the weather, but you still feel as though you’re dining al fresco. My husband loves the extensive beer selection available. And the food includes many of your favorite bar/pub delights, and a few specialties.  We love to order the broccoli poppers to start and finish it up with a burger, sandwich or wings. The buffalo chips make a great side. A kid’s menu is available, just ask your server.

Yogi’s is located at 519 East 10th Street and is open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. until the wee hours (it’s a college town, remember?) and on Sundays they open at noon. On Tuesdays at 7 p.m., you can attend “beer school,” which is an opportunity to hear from beer experts, representatives from various breweries, etc. A complete calendar of events is available here. If you live in the area or are a regular, be sure to sign up to be a Yogi’s VIP for deals, discounts and events.
