Last summer, I had the good fortune of discovering McCloud Nature Park in North Salem, Indiana. I wrote about how beautiful and peaceful the park is. I’m thrilled to be heading back to McCloud this weekend to enjoy Maple Syrup Days.

Held over the next two weekends — March 3-4 and March 10-11, Maple Syrup Days will give visitors a chance to learn about both traditional and modern techniques for tapping trees to collect sap and making the sweet sticky syrup.
Tours leave the McCloud Nature Center every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Sundays. There is no charge to get into the park or to take the volunteer-led tour.
And what would Maple Syrup Days be without pancakes? March 3 and 4, visitors can enjoy a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser. A free-will offering gets you all-you-can-eat pancakes topped with McCloud-made maple syrup. Pancakes will be served until 3 p.m. each day. Seatings will take place on the hour.
Please call the Hendricks County Parks department at (317) 718-6188 to reserve your spot. Available times can be viewed here.
