Recently, my destination marketing class took a trip to the Indianapolis Zoo for its annual Christmas at the Zoo event. While going to an outdoor attraction during the coldest time of the year seemed a little ridiculous to me, my viewpoint changed as soon as I arrived. Once I saw the park decorated with millions of tiny, beautiful lights, the weather was the last thing on my mind.
Christmas at the Zoo is an annual event that begins in late November and runs through the end of December. Not only are there hundreds of light displays to look at, but I learned that two-thirds of the animals are still viewable to visitors. And, for those of you who are concerned about staying warm, the zoo has several bonfires throughout and their indoor exhibits are open to keep you warm. Make sure to check out Santa’s Village and the animated light shows while you’re there!
Admission is $9.50 for adults, $7.50 for youth/seniors, and free for zoo members.
You can receive $1.00 off admission if you bring a donation of a new hat, scarf or gloves that will be given to St. Mary’s Children Center, which helps young children who are at risk for social, emotional, economic and environmental problems. Or you can save 20% off tickets when you stop by any Indianapolis area Donatos. You can even call to order the tickets to be delivered with your pizza!
