Madrigal Dinner by Lakes Area Players (Kosciusko County)

If you want to get into the Christmas mood a little early, save a date for a trip to Kosciusko County in North Central Indiana (my old stomping grounds for about 12 years), and check out the Madrigal Dinner by the Lakes Area Players in Syracuse, Indiana.

The Madrigal Dinner is held on December 2, 3, 9 & 10 at 7 p.m. and a matinee on December 4 at 2 p.m.Lakes Area Players Madrigal Ensemble

A Madrigal Dinner, according to the Lakes Area Players website is…

…a time when you come to eat a fine meal and the actors entertain you in song. Music, drama, the visual arts, and not the least, the culinary arts, all combine into a unique integrated aesthetic experience unleashing the imaginations of all involved, especially the audience.

A Madrigal Dinner is a type of dinner theater that is set in the Middle Ages. Each meal is divided into courses, and each course is announced with an appropriate song from the time period. There is often a play performed between the courses

This year, as they have in the last eight years, the Lake Area Players will celebrate the Christmas season with a court jester, a toast from the Wassail Bowl, and holiday carols that tell the Christmas story. It’s always a big attraction in my old neck of the woods, and one that’s a must-see for anyone who wants to get into the traditional Christmas spirit.

The event is $20 per person, and tickets can be ordered by calling (574) 834-4193. The dinner is at Quaker Haven Camp Activities Center at 900 N 500 E in scenic Syracuse, IN (off SR 13)
