Uncork a Bottle of Indiana

By admin on October 13, 2011
Back

As the weather cools off in Indianapolis the fall colors start to emerge. The first of fall and crisp weather has a habit of creating a sense of adventure; there’s never been a better time to get outside and explore an unfamiliar piece of Indiana.

At the Lanthier Winery – located in Madison Indiana Historic Local Landmark District – you can tour their vineyard, gardens, production room, loft gallery, and of course, their cellar and tasting room. They have just about a dozen wines that are fermented on their ground with in their 16 foot wine racks, and the winery is open for touring and tasting 11-5 Wednesday – Sunday (and yes, you can taste and purchase the wine on Sundays!)

One of their wines is a Traminette – Indiana’s own signature wine. This wine is a light and fruity white wine made from grapes that have been developed to prosper in the Indiana climate. This wine is a perfect addition to any fall or holiday meal, but this it has sold out every year at the Lanthier Winery since its debut in 2002, so you’ve got to go snatch it up before everyone else does!

The typical line up.The Lanthier Winery represents and enriched its little piece of Indiana. While the wine is not sold in the city of Indianapolis it is worth the visit to southern Indiana to get your hands on a bottle that is full of Indiana Charm.

So go ahead venture out of the city, take a trip, and and uncork a bottle of wine that is homegrown in Indiana and won’t be found in any grocery store wine line up like this.

Indiana ArtisanLanthier Winery is a juried member of Indiana Artisan – the official organization to review, recognize and promote the work of Indiana’s highest-quality art and food artisans. Find out more about Tom by visiting LanthierWinery.com.
