Uncle Henry’s Candies: An Indiana Family Tradition

Uncle Henry's CandiesAs my go-to companion to roses on Valentineís Day – the archenemy of my dentist and the sweet cheat to get back in my momís good graces – chocolate has served me in many different ways in my life. It makes great frosting, a fantastic fondue fountain, and more candy bars than can be counted. But for Carl Harvey, itís so much more than a Valentineís gift, the culprit for that unfortunate cavity I got last summer, or a tool for sucking up to my mom. Itís his Hoosier familyís tradition and a reminder of his favorite childhood memories.

When Carl was a kid he watched with delight as his Uncle Henry made his family famous chocolate candies for Christmas. The chocolates were always a highlight of the celebration and eventually Carl learned his uncleís secret recipe. Carl mastered the recipe, started selling the chocolates and has been satisfying his customerís with some of Indianaís best homemade chocolates since.

Carl and his family have been sharing their familyís joy with the state of Indiana for over 30 years now. With products ranging from $3.99 to $7.50 per half pound, Carlís chocolates are a must have for anybody that enjoys Hoosier homemade goods. Carlís chocolates can be found in Cicero and many of the surrounding cities and online at
