I’ll Have a Side of Theatre with My Dinner

During a visit to Poland this past year, I was fortunate to have a host with a reverent passion for classical music. He shared with my sister and I Poland’s rich musical history and the great work of Polish composer, Frédéric Chopin. This brief encounter has made me especially curious to see the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s new Polish conductor, Krzysztof Urbanski at work. At the ripe age of 28, Urbanski is the youngest music director among major orchestras in the United States. The new conductor debuts his musical artistry and power at Hilbert Circle Theatre Sept. 16 and 17.

Now, I’ll admit I’m not one for scary movies, but who can resist the wicked and seductive draw of Dracula at Indiana Repertory Theatre now through Oct. 1? And why stop with Dracula? A little piece of high-school-literature-class-Brittany is dying to see Julius Caesar on the IRT’s stage Oct.21 – Nov. 5. Et tu, Brute?

The month of September along is host to over 100 performances on Downtown stages! A night out at the theatre (or any other activity) is not complete without some grub. Downtown’s Wholesale District and Mass Ave are seeing numerous restaurant openings – The Libertine, California Pizza Kitchen and Black Market to name a few. Be warned: this is just a sliver of what the Downtown fall performing arts scene has to offer, check out this page for more information.
