Hoosier Hops & Harvest 2011 in Brown County, Indiana, September 17

By admin on August 27, 2011

The 2nd Annual “Hoosier Hops & Harvest” festival is happening at the Story Inn on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Anyone who loves regional microbrews, live music, and local food needs to head down to Story, IN (Brown County), and participate in what the organizers are calling “not just another tired version of Oktoberfest.”Hoosier Hops & Harvest logo

On their website, they say “We covenant that there will be no chicken dances, and anyone caught wearing Lederhosen will be publicly flogged.

Tickets are $15 online until September 2, $20 at the door, and $10 for designated drivers. Viewing of the floggings are apparently free. There was no mention whether floggings will be done indoors or outdoors, and whether the floggings will be postponed in case of rain.

(Lawyer’s note: There will not be any flogging.)

(Erik’s note: Except for lawyers.)

(Lawyer’s note: That’s not funny.)

The festival is being hosted by the Story Inn and World Class Beverages. They based it on the Indiana Wine Fair, but wanted to do something for the non-wine people among us.

You can also enjoy music the entire time during the festival, with great bands like Heavy Hometown, Busmans Holiday, Freddie T & The People, and Jimbo Mathus & The Tri-State Coalition (from Squirrel Nut Zippers).

Gates open at 12:30 pm, and they start pouring at 1:00 pm. They will provide each guest with 5 free four-ounce samples, and you can buy 12-ounce glasses of your favorites for $3. The event goes until 6:00 pm. And please bring a designated driver, or at least celebrate at the Hoosier Hops festival responsibly.

Parking is free, and they are giving priority parking to people who arrive four or more to a vehicle.
