Thanks to today’s technology, you can take a guided tour of Jackson County at your own pace by using your cell phone with Jackson County’s new “Tour By Cell Seymour and Jackson County, Indiana” and visit any of 28 stops in the southern county. Stops include the Southern Indiana Freight House, Blish Milling Company, Pony Express Building, Travis Carter Home, Hangman’s Crossing, and the Reno Brothers.
Visitors to Jackson County can swing by the Jackson County Visitor Center (JCVC)and pick up a copy of the “Tour By Cell” brochure. When you’re on your tour, call the telephone number on the brochure, and go on your way. Each stop has a corresponding number, and you just dial in the number you want during the call.
According to the JCVC, you’ll hear the voices of local community members, including Brantley Blythe, Bill Bailey, Ray Eakins, Fred Lewis, Robert Becker, Jay Hubbard, Janet Kiel and Mayor Craig Luedeman.
The whole tour will take about an hour, and you are responsible for your cell phone minutes, since this will be a running tour.
For more information, call the JCVC at (888) 524-1914.
