Who wouldn’t want to get down and dirty while running a few miles through some obstacles? Sounds like a party, right? Exactly. The Mudathlon is returning to Indianapolis this year, and it promises participants a mucking good time. The Mudathlon is a race unlike any other, sending participants through three miles of terrain and more than 40 obstacles – all in the mud.
This year’s Mudathlon takes place on June 25 in Anderson, just about 45 minutes north of Indianapolis. The Indy date is the first of many, so for anyone who tries it and just can’t get enough, there will be races in Chicagoland, Ohio and Wisconsin later in the summer and into the fall. A $75 registration fee gets participants a medal, Mudathlete shirt, bandana and beer mug, a free beer for anyone over 21, a post-race feast, a chip timed result and parking. The Mudathlon after-party even features live music that will be sure to help guests celebrate throughout the afternoon.
All skill levels are welcomed to take part, whether you’ve been training for years or are the casual exerciser who just thinks it sounds fun. Participants can register individually or as a team, but the cost per person is the same for both. Every Mudathlon is country themed, and participants are encouraged to come in costume. Individuals and teams are even chosen from the crowd for an Awesome Mucking Costume prize. Also given out is the Top Mudder Award, which goes to the three men and three women with the best chip times.
Kicking off at 8 am, this is sure to be a race to remember. So if you think you can handle the Mucking Mud Pits, Cargo Cling and Climb, Tire Tussle, Tunnel of Terror and the Muck and Run, this event is for you.
