Free Family Fun at Let’s Meet PBS Kids in the Park June 11

I will openly admit that on many occasions, especially rainy days or when he’s sick, I happily plop my two-year-old in front of the television for 30 minutes to entertain him. Fortunately, we have access to WFYI’s great television programming for kids, called PBS Kids. I love to hear him sing along with his favorite shows and I know that Sesame Street has had more than just a little to do with the fact that he has already learned all his letters.

WFYI is hosting a free event on June 11 in Military Park at White River State Park called Let’s Meet PBS Kids in the Park. It’s a chance for your little ones to meet their favorite characters and have a day of family fun. Get there early to catch the parade of characters at 10 a.m. Cast members from shows like The Cat in the Hat, Curious George, Super Why and many more, along with local mascots and colorful clowns, will all take a festive lap around the park.

There will also be entertainment throughout the day on three stages, as well as booths, bounce houses, food and more. The event runs until 4 p.m.

If you’re traveling to Indianapolis for all the fun, consider purchasing the special $150 getaway package. It includes an overnight stay at the downtown Hilton Garden Inn, milk and cookies with the Cat in the Hat on Friday night, a VIP breakfast on Saturday morning and a one-year membership to WFYI, which includes many more perks.

I hope to see you there. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be trying to pry my son away from the cast of Word World.
