Grammy Winning Arcade Fire to Take on Indianapolis

By admin on April 26, 2011

Tomorrow (Wednesday, April 27th) Arcade Fire will bring The Suburbs (their newest record) to Indianapolis. Brought to you by MOKB Presents! and Live Nation, the concert will also feature Cincinnati quintet,  The National.

Arcade Fire at the Pepsi Coliseum

Arcade Fire first came on the scene in 2004 with their debut album Funeral and was immediately proclaimed as the newest Indie darlings. The 2009 film, Where the Wild Things Are, exposed America to Arcade Fire using their song Wake Up in the movie trailer. With this years Grammy win for Album of the Year, Arcade Fire rocketed into the mainstream music scene. The band hails from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and is known for their unique sound, which can be attributed to the many instruments they use. Most bands utilize the basic instruments: guitar, drums, bass, guitar, piano. The members of Arcade Fire use many instruments, some I’ve never even heard of! What is a hurdy-gurdy anyway? Arcade Fire is known for their incredible live shows and their multi-instrumentalist band members who switch instruments throughout the show.

Originally scheduled for The Lawn at White River State Park, the show has been moved to the Pepsi Coliseum due to the expected inclement weather. Tickets are $43.50 in advance and $45 the day of the show. You can get tickets here.

Having seen Arcade Fire perform at Lollapalooza this past August, I can say that this will be an amazing show. Their music surrounds you and makes you believe that anything is possible. Their performance was, in a word, enchanting. So, Indiana, let a little magic into your lives with some Arcade Fire!
