The new Indiana Landmarks Center in downtown Indianapolis recently underwent a stunning restoration. Visitors will no doubt say “WOW” after seeing it for the first time during the Wondrous Opening Weekend (WOW). The extensive festivities conclude Sunday, April 17 with a free event and Classical Bash.
Guests can tour and experience music in the Grand Hall and Cook Theater at the Landmark Open House from 11 am to 2 pm. Exhibits, tour guides and costumed characters will help tell the story of the landmark and the restoration.
The Classical Bash on Sunday evening features international opera and cabaret singer Sylvia McNair and the Landmark Trio–violinist Zach De Pue, cellist Geoff Lapin, and pianist Marianne Williams Tobias–followed by a reception with stations throughout the complex showcasing the cuisine of five caterers who provide food service at the center. The cost is $75 per person.
Indianapolis’s Sun King Brewing Co. will serve Indiana Landmarks Wit, a 30-barrel limited edition beer produced in honor of the grand opening. The beer is crafted using syrup from the Tulip Poplar–the state tree–and a kiss of Indiana honey. Paintings by members of the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association will also be on display throughout the day.
