The proceeds from the race benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for cancer research. Kay Yow was an award-winning head women’s basketball coach for North Carolina State University who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2009. The Fund is a 501 c(3) charitable organization committed to the fight against women’s cancers by raising funds for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
I’ve been trying to get in shape for my upcoming wedding this June, so I thought this fun run would be a good motivator. I signed up early because the first 1,500 runners and walkers (yes, walkers are encouraged to participate) to register will receive a long-sleeved 4Kay Run T-shirt donated by Nike. The sizes of the shirts are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
I’ve got my whole family signing up since it’s being held on such an awesome site. I can’t wait to run the track before the big Indy 500. Registration for the 4Kay is $20 if you sign up online before the day of the race or $25 on-site and you can register for the event at ncaa.com/finalfour. Registration on the day of the race, as well as packet pick-up, will start at 7 a.m.
So get in shape and support a good cause! You still have time to register before the race. Indianapolis is such a great sporting community and this is the perfect time to get involved while taking advantage of participating in the Women’s Final Four festivities.
